Offer Description

The postdoctoral researcher will undertake transformative research aimed at reconstructing the environmental history of a degraded seagrass (Posidonia oceanica) meadow impacted by aquaculture practices in Crete (Greece). The study will focus on assessing the dynamics of blue carbon – including stocks, sequestration rates and CO2 fluxes - following meadow degradation and natural recovery processes.

Additionally, the postdoc will be actively involved in innovative seagrass restoration activities, aimed at enhancing seagrass ecosystem services. This role includes transnational collaborative efforts with other Mediterranean countries, as well as engaging with local public authorities and private stakeholders, by advocating for the adoption of seagrasses as nature-based solutions within the sphere of nature restoration and growth of the blue economy.
