The provision of sustainable energy carriers and base chemicals constitutes a central objective in advancing defossilization efforts and contributing to the establishment of green energy supply. Essential technologies such as electrochemical water splitting and carbon dioxide reduction necessitate robust, efficient, and cost-effective catalysts to attain these objectives. This thesis aims to develop and assess novel metal chalkogenide-based electrocatalysts through mechanochemical methods for application in electrolysis, specifically targeting CO2 electroreduction and water electrolysis.

What you will do

  • Synthesis & characterisation of heterogeneous electrocatalysts
  • Electrode preparation: integration of the prepared catalysts into electrode systems  
  • Planning and execution of experiments on CO2 electroreduction and water electrolysis
  • Preparation and presentation of research results

What you bring to the table

  • Ongoing studies in chemistry or related studies with completed Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in synthesizing and characterizing inorganic solid state materials
  • A solid foundational understanding of electrochemistry
  • Experience in scientific research
  • Structured, independent working style, creativity, flexibility and pleasure working in a team
  • Very good knowledge of English

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is limited to 9 months.
