The mission of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) as a nationally and internationally active research institute is to deliver solutions for an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable agriculture – together with society. ZALF is a member of the Leibniz Association and is located in Müncheberg (approx. 35 minutes by regional train from Berlin-Lichtenberg). The institute also maintains locations in Dedelow and Paulinenaue.

The Landscape Modelling group is looking for a student assistant to support the data analysis and processing of satellite based time series to assess crop management activities and rotation.

We are now offering a position for a period of 6 months (extension possible) for 80 hours/month at the Müncheberg location as a

Student assistant (f/m/d)

Your tasks:

  • implementation, adaptation and maintenance of existing algorithms in the field of remote sensing
  • processing of Sentinel-2, Sentinel-1 and PlanetScope data
  • processing of field data collected during previous years

Your qualifications:

  • student in agriculture, geography, or related disciplines currently a student at a German university
  • work independently with high reliability
  • strong Python programming skills
  • experience with Google Earth Engine and Linux environment is desirable
  • experience with Git and GitHub is desirable
