Research Associates and PhD students within the Cluster of Excellence ROOTS participate in the ROOTS Young Academy. The ROOTS Young Academy brings together experts from an array of disciplines at an early career stage, which support ROOTS research with innovative research ideas. Research Assistant

(specialist in the Practice of Archaeological Fieldwork)

 

to begin on 01th april of 2024 til the 31th of december 2025. The salary is based on the German public pay scale (TV-L E13) if the conditions of the collective agreement are met. The regular weekly working hours are those of a full-time employee (currently 38,7hours).

Conditions of employment

  • A master’s degree in an archaeological discipline (Pre- and Protohistoric Archaeology, Classical Archaeology or similar)
  • Experience in archaeological field research
  • Knowledge in excavation and prospecting techniques, surveying technology; technical photography, database management;
  • basic knowledge of SQL, image and graphics processing, knowledge of multivariate statistics, Bayesian modeling, GIS and spatial statistic and basic knowledge of programming (e.g. R) is expected.
  • Driving license with class B

Job description:

Organization and implementation of excavations and archaeological prospection, construction and operation of an interconnected surveying and documentation system for excavations / prospections, scientific processing and evaluation of excavation and prospection data.
