The Faculty of Engineering and Mathematics seeks to appoint a Professor (W2) in Electrical Engineering and Automation Technology

 
The successful candidate should represent the subject area competently and bring practical experience in teaching and research.

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching in the field of electrical engineering and automation technology in its fundamentals, specialisation subjects and adjoining modules (especially in the field of measurement technology and sensors) in the bachelor's and master's degree programmes at the faculty's Gütersloh campus
  • Developing and enhancing the profile of Gütersloh Campus through research and development in the represented teaching area
  • Contributing to the further development of the range of courses and to the development of international study programmes
  • Developing your own research activities at the faculty
  • Procuring third-party funds
  • Participating in academic committees
  • Contributing to public engagement in the region
  • Expanding and maintaining international collaborations with companies and universities

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed academic degree and doctorate in the field of electrical engineering, information or automation technology or related fields of study with
    above-average achievements
  • Sound professional experience in the application and/or development of electrical engineering systems and industrial automation technology
  • Knowledge in the field of industrial communication, fieldbus technology, human-machine interfaces (HMI) as well as measurement technology and sensors
  • Recognised research and publication activities in the area you will teach and ideally experience in the acquisition of third-party funds
  • Willingness and ability to teach courses in English
  • Pedagogical and didactic aptitude (ideally proven by teaching experience at universities), pleasure in passing on your knowledge and the ability to successfully convey the course contents to the students
  • Familiarity with digital teaching and learning formats

  • Live in Gütersloh or the surrounding area
  • Participate in continuing education
  • Provide guidance and advice for students regularly
  • Use diversity and gender competence in teaching and research
  • Be willing to face students' criticism of courses
  • Be willing to supervise international exchange students and to offer courses in English
  • Be willing and able to teach courses in German language
  • Have excellent pedagogical and didactic suitability, ideally through teaching experience at universities
  • Be competent and take pleasure in building (international) networks
