Offer Description
The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a world-leading internationally oriented research center, committed to discovering new approaches to prevent and treat neurodegenerative diseases. To this end, researchers at ten DZNE sites across Germany pursue a translational and interdisciplinary strategy comprising five interconnected areas: fundamental research, clinical research, health care research, population health science, and systems medicine. www.dzne.de
The DZNE in Bonn is looking for a
Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/x) with Computational/Bioinformatics Background – Code 1312/2024/5
The Capasso lab is seeking an interactive and self-motivated bioinformatician/computational biologist to join a team of cell and molecular biologists working on the immune system and its changes in aging and neurodegeneration. The projects will focus on interrogating and integrating existing transcriptome, translatome and proteome datasets generated from genetically engineered mouse models, with a specific focus on regulation of mRNA translation downstream mTOR activation in microglia. This programme of work is based on published/unpublished studies from the team.
The successful candidate will benefit from the many interactions within the bioinformatics environment at DZNE and University of Bonn. The post is based within the DZNE Research Institute at Bonn Venusberg. A strong mentoring programme for career development is provided.
Your profile
Expertise in applied bioinformatics/computational biology is required and knowledge of statistics would be an advantage. A PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology or a related subject is essential, preferably with a focus on gene expression. Previous experience in bioinformatics analysis applied to regulation of mRNA translation will be highly desirable.
