Job Offer from May 23, 2023
The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (MPIB) in Martinsried (near Munich, Germany) is one of the leading international research institutions in the fields of biochemistry, cell and structural biology and biomedical research. With about 30 scientific departments and research groups and about 750 employees, the MPIB is one of the largest institutes of the Max Planck Society.
The Immunoregulation group headed by Professor Peter J. Murra y is seeking postdoctoral research scientists (m/f/d) interested in diverse aspects of the cross-talk between myeloid cells and cancer cells, dendritic cell biology, and the biochemistry of cell death pathway regulation. The ultimate goal of the research group is to understand the basic biology immune regulation in different contexts.
We seek motivated researchers (m/f/d) with cell biology and immunology skills to join our research efforts, including to help create new research directions and innovations within our group. We also seek candidates (m/f/d) with strong bioinformatic skills to work at the interface of proteomic, transcriptomic and metabolic dissection of myeloid cells in different pathophysiological contexts.
Your mission
- Experimental approaches include working with primary murine and human myeloid cells, understanding the cross-talk between immune cells and cancer cells, advanced flow cytometry, scRNAseq, biochemical dissection of metabolic signaling pathways and Crispr/Cas9 genetics.
- Analysis of omics data (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics)
- Training of junior scientists
- Manuscript and fellowship preparation and submission
- Working in an open team environment, including strategic project planning
Requirements
The successful applicant (m/f/d) will hold, or shortly expects to obtain, a PhD qualification in immunology, genetics, biochemistry (with an emphasis on cellular approaches) or bioinformatics. An independent ability to perform analytical reasoning to extract innovative biological insights from data-driven approaches will be critical.
Research environment
The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry is a world-leader in basic research of life science processes, from the atomic scale to whole organisms. The institute is part of a strong network of research institutions in the Munich area and provides outstanding research opportunities for its scientists.
Payment will be according to qualifications and in accordance with TVöD (German public service tariff scale). The initial appointment will be for 2 years with a possible extension. Informal inquiries are welcome and should be sent to [email protected] .
The Max Planck Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals. Furthermore, the Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in research and explicitly encourages women to apply.
Your application
Then please upload your complete application documents, containing a one-page letter with a personal statement describing your scientific accomplishments and your interests in our department and its research, your CV and bibliography, as well as contact information for at least two references (including the doctoral advisor), in electronic form via the online application website by 15 June 2022
