A Postdoctoral Fellow in Behavioural Data Science position is available in the Assistant Professorship of Chronobiology & Health at the TUM School of Medicine and Health. The Assistant Professorship of Chronobiology & Health is embedded within the Translational Sensory and Circadian Neuroscience Unit (MPS/TUM/TUMCREATE), an international research unit led by Prof. Dr. Manuel Spitschan linking TUM, TUMCREATE in Singapore and the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen. The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is one of the most renowned universities in Europe. We are offering excellent working conditions in a highly international research environment.

This position is available in the AMBIENT-BD project funded by the Wellcome Trust and led by University of Edinburgh with co-investigators at TUM and Maynooth University. The focus of the AMBIENT-BD project is the ambient and passive collection of sleep and circadian rhythm data in bipolar disorder to understand symptom trajectories and clinical outcomes. Your project:
Embedded within the larger AMBIENT-BD project, the Postdoctoral Fellow at TUM will develop, pilot, and evaluate a conversational agent (chatbot) for data collection in patients and control participants.
This will include:
• Developing and testing a chatbot using an existing framework
• Co-producing features of the chatbot with patients and participants
• Data analysis and write-up for publication
• Collaborating with the teams at the University of Edinburgh and Maynooth University, including travel to UK and Ireland

The position is available from 1 May 2024 or after that for 24 months.

Your profile:
We seek a motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow with the following qualifications:
• Doctoral degree (psychology, neuroscience, computational science, or similar)
• Experience with experience sampling methods (ESM)/ecological momentary assessment (EMA)
• Experience in smartphone-based longitudinal data collection
• Proficiency in advanced statistical methods and data analysis techniques
• Ability to develop computer software in Python or R
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with members of an international research team, and communicate openly
