Postdoc positions in planet formation at LMU Munich (up to 5 years)

The Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich invites applications for

- several postdoctoral positions (initially 2 years, possibility of extension up to 5 years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding)
- one 4-year PhD position (paid on 75% TV-L E13 level for public employees)

in the field of planet formation, protoplanetary disk formation, and evolution.

Experience in topics related to planet formation, protoplanetary disks, hydrodynamics, star formation, or computational astrophysics is welcome but a broad range of related areas of expertise will also be considered.

The positions are offered within the research group led by Professor Til Birnstiel and are funded by a Consolidator Grant of the European Research Council (ERC). HPC resources and funding for computing equipment and travel are available. Salaries and social benefits are based on the German TV-L scale for public employees. The group is stationed at the LMU within one of Europes leading physics departments and embedded in the vibrant astrophysics environment in Munich consisting of MPE, MPA, LMU, and ESO,  which together form one of the largest centers of astrophysical research in the world.
