to be filled. Starting date is as soon as possible. The position is limited to 06/30/2027.
They are qualification positions for junior researchers pursuing an academic career after the PhD degree. The positions are available immediately or upon availability of the candidates.
The successful candidates will be affiliated with the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development and will be working with professors closely related to their research areas. The postdoctoral researchers are expected to develop and conduct research projects in the areas of agricultural and/or development economics.
We particularly welcome applications from candidates who work in one or more of the following areas:
- Agricultural and food economics (incl. consumer behavior)
- Sustainable food systems
- Machine learning, AI and digital agribusiness management
- International agricultural development
The job responsibilities include:
- Develop new and contribute to existing research projects in agricultural and/or development economics.
- Establish and advance an independent research agenda aligned with the Department's themes.
- Strengthen the research profile of the Department through active participation, publications, and innovative contributions.
- Grant Applications: Assist in preparing proposals and develop own proposals to secure research funding.
- Collaborate and Network: Interact actively with researchers within and outside the department, and participate in conferences to disseminate findings and build networks.
- Teach and Supervise: Contribute to teaching responsibilities within the Department and to supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD students.
Your profile
- holds a Master's and a PhD degree (completed or close to completion) in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Data Sciences, Psychology, Statistics or a related field
- Evidence of research activity (publications) and/or future scholarly output (working papers, etc.)
- Proven interest in topics related to food and/or agriculture
- Strong analytical skills and experience with quantitative research methods
- Clear research plan
- Excellent English language skills

The positions are based in Göttingen (Germany).
