Natural Scientist / Economist - Focus on data-based business model development

Your Job:

You will be mainly responsible for the management of innovation and transfer projects as well as the identification of promising data models, technologies and innovation potential for licensing, spin-offs or cooperations for business and society. Your tasks in this exciting job in detail:

  • You develop data- and technology-driven business models, carry out market and technology assessments and competitive analyses
  • You carry out business development activities for selected data models, technologies or start-up projects
  • You support spin-offs from the research centre in creating viable business plans
  • You identify suitable partners from industry and science, establish initial contact and create technology offers
  • You will also develop and implement innovation methods and tools as well as formats to revitalise a corporate culture that stimulates entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Advising the scientific institutes on issues relating to technology transfer, business start-ups and IP licensing round off your portfolio

Your Profile:

  • A successfully completed Master`s degree in the field of natural sciences, engineering, economics or innovation management
  • A doctorate is an advantage, but not mandatory
  • You have experience in market-oriented management of innovation projects, especially in the areas of business model development, market and technology evaluation and competition analysis
  • You are used to working conceptually and independently and have a keen interest in familiarising yourself with complex topics
  • Ideally, you already have good knowledge of academic innovation, science or licence management as well as industry knowledge in the life sciences, information technology or energy sectors
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as a professional and pragmatic demeanour towards internal and external partners
  • Your strong analytical and strategic thinking skills help you to maintain an overview even in challenging situations and to focus on the essentials
  • You enjoy working in an interdisciplinary, science-orientated environment at the interface between science, administration and society
  • Fluent German and English skills

The position is initially for a fixed term of 2 years, with possible long-term prospects. Salary and social benefits will conform to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund), pay group 13, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and the precise nature of the tasks assigned to them.
