At the University of Bremen, in Faculty 12: Education and Educational Sciences in the subject Inclusive Education, the following position is available (at the earliest possible date)

Full Professorship (W2)

in the field of

Inclusive Education, Emotional-Social Development and Learning in the Context of Challenging Life Situations

Reference number: P930/24

We are a faculty with a profile focus on diversity, participation and (educational) inequality in educational institutions and processes and are looking for an individual who represents the field of inclusive education in research and teaching with a focus on emotional-social development and learning in the context of aggravated life situations.

You cover a broad spectrum of pedagogical as well as psychological and/or sociological approaches to the inclusive support of children and adolescents with individual, social and institutional impairments in emotional and social development and learning from an intersectional perspective.

In teaching, you will be responsible for courses in the teaching-related Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Inclusive education for primary and secondary level as well as in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in educational science. The focus is on modules with the special focus of emotional-social development and learning in the teaching profession with special consideration of social processes of exclusion and inclusion.

To be considered for the position, you must have an outstanding doctorate in inclusive education and further academic (habilitation or habilitation-equivalent) achievements relevant to the subject area.

You have completed a teaching degree, preferably with a focus on inclusive education and/or special education, or a comparable educational degree. You are familiar with the independent acquisition of external funding and have profound experience in independent school-related research and teaching in the subject area. You bring experience in academic self-administration and participation in the further development of study programmes.

The international visibility of your academic work is desirable. A minimum of 3 years of practical school experience or comparable pedagogical practice is expected.

Your research and teaching profile includes intersectional approaches to learning, development and socialization processes against the background of an understanding- and relationship-oriented pedagogy with publications in one of the following two main issues:

  • Design of school, teaching and support systems for students in challenging life situations.
  • Diagnosis and support of emotional and social development and learning in inclusive settings.

Research and teaching experience in one or more of the following main issues is also desired:

  • School-based fields of action in the context of poverty and social disadvantage (for example, social space orientation, cooperation with extracurricular institutions of child and youth welfare)
  • Participatory approaches in research as well as self-determination and co-determination in institutional contexts.
  • Group processes and relationship building

In teaching, we expect proven high didactic competence and high didactic commitment, including digital formats. You are able to conduct lectures in German.

The willingness to cooperate within and across departments in research and teaching is a prerequisite, as is the willingness to cooperate in the interdepartmental tasks of teacher education, including in the Centre for Teacher Education and Educational Research.

Contributions to internationalization are desired, e.g. in the context of the internationalization of the teacher training programmes and/or within the framework of YUFE.

The appointment is based on § 18 BremHG and § 116 BremBG.

If you fulfil the requirements under civil service law, tenure is granted for life.
