In research and teaching, the Institute of Meteorology deals with the understanding of atmospheric processes and the simulation of weather and climate on time scales ranging from hours to centuries. One focus is on investigating the dynamics of the troposphere and stratosphere with the help of theoretical approaches and models.

Job description:
The research focus of the scientific researcher will be in the field of theoretical meteorology and dynamics of the troposphere and stratosphere. Possible research topics are the dynamics of atmospheric waves and weather systems, transport processes including the exchange between troposphere and stratosphere as well as changes in atmospheric circulation due to different climatological boundary conditions. In addition, the researcher will be active in teaching in the field of theoretical meteorology, as well as participate in the supervision of students. The employment serves the purpose of personal scientific qualification through research and the acquisition of teaching experience.

Requirements:
Completed scientific university degree in meteorology, physics or mathematics; Doctoral degree in atmospheric or climate sciences.

Desirable:
Experience in theoretical meteorology and atmospheric dynamics, especially on planetary to synoptic scales and potentially also regarding the stratosphere; initial experience in university teaching; fluency in German or English and the ability to work in a team.
