Position 74319: Specialist (m/f/d) for XML in the "Library of Neology" project Pay grade 13 TV-L - 50% position of 39,8 hours per week

The Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen) is one of the largest academic libraries in German-speaking Europe. It is involved in many national and international projects in the fields of digital libraries, research infrastructures, data science, research software engineering, open science and various aspects of publication and research data management. For decades, the library has acted as a technology partner for critical editing projects in text-oriented disciplines and works closely with researchers to disseminate their research findings in platform-based digital editions and conventional formats such as print and e-books in a manner appropriate to the scientific community. In the "Library of Neology" edition project, central texts and text collections of neology have been prepared in a portal-based critical hybrid edition in digital format since 2014 and made available to neological research without access restrictions. At the same time, the content is published in a form that is equally suitable for interdisciplinary research and academic teaching. The DFG-funded project is being carried out in cooperation with the University of Münster / Seminar for Church History and the SUB Göttingen and will be completed in 2026 with its fourth funding phase.

The tasks for position 74319 include

  • Prepress production based on TEI-XML data for the ongoing provision of soft proofs for the researchers
  • Quality assurance of the prepress stages for data transfer to other production partners
  • Establishment, further development and maintenance of project-specific prepress pipelines
Requirements for position 74319 

:

  • Completed university degree in media informatics, media design or a related field or equivalent media technology training and several years of professional experience
  • Proven experience with typesetting from scientific typesetting programs such as TUSTEP, TeX or LaTeX, as well as the willingness to familiarize yourself with discipline-specific publication processes
  • typographical knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of XML technologies (XML, XPath, XSLT) or the willingness to learn these quickly
  • Openness to scientific editorial issues
  • High level of communication skills and ability to work in a team, independent, punctual and precise way of working
  • Good command of English and very good command of German
Additional skills
  • Experience in editing projects or digital humanities projects, as well as in handling TEI data
  • Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript
