Doctoral Researcher/PhD

The position is offered for a period of 3 years. The starting date is as soon as possible or date. The position is part-time (65 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 65 %).

The group of Prof. Dr. Kristin Rattay studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying central immune tolerance induction and the development of autoimmune diseases. The methodological spectrum in the lab ranges from cell biological and molecular techniques to bioinformatic analysis approaches.

The position is available to study the signaling pathways involved in thymic tissue homeostasis and cell-cell-communication in the thymus. The project combines immunological, cell biological and molecular techniques.

Tasks:

scientific services in research and teaching primary cell isolation from the thymus (i.e. T cells, thymic epithelial cells (mTECs), endothelial cells and thymic tuft cells (tuft-mTEC) magnetic activated cell sorting (MACS) and Fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) cytometry analysis of transgenic mouse models]() RNA isolation, qRT-PCR analysis and RNA-sequencing analysis]() histology analysis and fluorescence imaging by confocal microscopy]() primary cell culture The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct the independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate. The limitation complies to § 2, 1 WissZeitVG.

Profile:

finished master’s degree (or diploma, or similar) in the field of life sciences, biology, medicine or biochemistry highly enthusiastic and interested student, willing to actively participate in a scientific research project and with the ability to work well in a team previous knowledge in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry and mouse physiology are desired good written and spoken English skills Disposition to own scientific qualification (e. g. a doctorate project in the area of Immunology and/or Pharmacology) is expected.
