Project title: PK/PD characterization of broad-spectrum antivirals for pandemic preparedness

Project description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the investigation of novel lead compounds with broad-spectrum antiviral activity. The cellular and molecular mechanism of action and the pharmacological properties of small-molecule as well as PROTACs will be studied by a combination of virological, biochemical, chemoproteomic  and in silico modelling techniques, in close collaboration with other disciplines of the international network. A part of the work will be performed in biosafety level 3 laboratories on the campus.

The successful candidate will be integrated in the HZI International Graduate School for Infection Research (GS-FIRE) which provides an innovative structured PhD programme within the field of Infection Research www.helmholtz-hzi.de/de/karriere/graduiertenschule/curriculum/ .

Prerequisite:

Qualifications:

  • Master´s Degree/Diploma (or equivalent) in cell biology, biochemistry, virology, pharmaceutical sciences or related disciplines
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an international team
  • Highly motivated to develop scientific skills
  • First experiences with independent planning of experimental methods (molecular biology, biochemistry and bioanalytics) are required
  • Expertise in virology and/or PK modelling is considered an advantage.
