The working group of Dr. Tonni Grube Andersen at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne is hiring a biological technical assistant (BTA) (m/f/d) to be filled at the earliest possible starting date. The position is limited to 2 years.


Your tasks
  • DNA and RNA extraction from plants and bacteria
  • Molecular biological and microbiological activities such as various PCR processes, golden gate cloning, agrobacterium and plant transformation. As well as processing, care and storage of genetically modified seeds.
  • Detailed documentation of laboratory activities.
  • General laboratory work, ordering and organization.

Your profile
  • You have completed vocational training as a technical assistant (BTA, BioTA), laboratory assistant or comparable qualification.
  • Experience with genetic, molecular biological and biochemical working methods (PCR, cloning, DNA and RNA isolation, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of the English language required.
  • Ability to work in a team, sense of responsibility, motivation and a great interest in work.
  • High willingness to learn new methods.
  • Enjoying close cooperation and knowledge sharing with colleagues.
