Offer Description
Education

ISAE-Supméca specializes in training multi-skilled engineers in mechanical engineering and complex systems engineering.

The ideal candidate will be a member of the faculty in charge of teaching mechanics in both student training and apprenticeships, and in particular the teaching team for the final-year SCM (Simulation in Mechanical Design) course.

At ISAE-Supméca, the candidate will teach lectures, tutorials and conduct practical work in one or more of the following areas of structural mechanics: finite element method, finite element simulation (linear and non-linear), dynamics and design. He/she will be able to contribute to the development of the range of courses offered to students based on contemporary artificial intelligence tools (machine learning, classification, etc.). He/she will also be involved in supervising second-year (M1) 'Design Office' projects, third-year (M2) synthesis projects and second- and third-year internships.

Furthermore, the candidate will be expected to invest heavily in the introduction and development of new pedagogical methods within the school.

Research

As part of the research on structural dynamics, the person recruited will join the Quartz laboratory within the VAST-FM team.

He/she will develop a research activity in structural health monitoring (SHM) using approaches based on dynamic behaviour. In order to carry out this SHM activity, the candidate will be required to use one or more, but not necessarily all, of the approaches, skills and qualities described below.

Her/his initial mission will be to contribute to existing SHM projects by providing scientific and technical solutions dedicated to predicting the health status of structures. The target sectors are mainly aeronautics, automotive and civil engineering. The research focus will be based on experimental or numerical methods specific to structural dynamics or acoustics. Innovative methods will be developed by combining tools and ideas from fields such as signal and image processing, artificial intelligence, inverse problems, identification, machine learning and the concept of the digital twin. This concept is transversal to the laboratory and will lead the candidate to collaborate with colleagues in the VAST-FM team and to create synergies with other teams, in particular on composite material structures and mechatronic systems.

The scientific perspectives will be developed pragmatically and will strengthen industrial partnerships. A technological background in the field of aeronautics and space will be an asset, as it will enable the candidate to contribute to certain research activities currently addressed by the VAST-FM team: monitoring the ageing of flying structures, predictive maintenance of aeronautical structures. The person recruited will also ensure the positioning, visibility and excellence of this research activity on a local, national and international scale.

The candidate will have a solid knowledge base in various fields of applied mechanics, a keen sense of collaborative research and a taste for human relations. He/she will be involved in the life of the scientific community through the competitiveness clusters (ASTech Paris-Région), learned societies and GDRs to which ISAE-Supméca belongs. The person recruited will participate in the search for external funding via calls for projects from various institutions (CNES, ESA, GIFAS, etc.), academic (ISAE group) and industrial (CIFRE) partnerships, as well as regional, national (ANR) and European projects.
