Offer Description
Develop numerical codes for the inverse scattering transform applied to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation.
Develop a theoretical model within the framework of generalized hydrodynamics for a nonlinear Schrödinger equation perturbed by losses.
Establish a new collaboration with mathematicians from the Painlevé laboratory (University of Lille).
Theoretical calculations of generalized hydrodynamics (main task, autonomously).
Writing simulation codes (main task).
Soliton gases in integrable systems represent a fundamental physics problem that has garnered increasing interest since the 2000s [Physical Review Letters 95 (20), 204101 (2005)]. If an integrable equation is perturbed by an additional term, the collisions between solitons become non elastic. The goal is to study soliton collisions in a system perturbed by losses or higher orders of dispersion or nonlinearity. The postdoc will need to develop and use codes for simulations of inverse scattering transform to integrate integrable equations (nonlinear Schrödinger equation, KdV…). The goal is to contribute to the analysis of experimental signals obtained in optical fibres experiments and to establish the theory of generalized hydrodynamics that would describe the experiments.

Eligibility criteria
The candidate for this postdoc should have a strong theoretical background in integrable systems, statistical physics, and particularly in generalized hydrodynamics. They should also have a solid experience in numerical simulations.
