Offer Description

The person will be recruited within the NGERE laboratory (Nutrition Genetic and Exposure to
Environmental Risks (https://ngere.univ-lorraine.fr ), a joint research unit of the University of
Lorraine and Inserm (U1256) whose research theme concerns study of interactions between
genetics, epigenomics and metabolic and/or nutritional factors on normal or pathological
aging.

The overall objective of this project is to develop an innovative therapeutic treatment for
patients with a genetic disease of vitamin B12 metabolism. These patients generally present
with numerous hematological and neurological symptoms for which conventional treatment
does not prevent fatal outcome or serious neurological consequences. Innovative therapeutic
strategies are therefore necessary, and our preliminary results obtained in vitro and in vivo on
transgenic animal models demonstrate that the inhibition of different forms of cellular stress
based on the pharmacological activation of the SIRT1 enzyme could constitute a new
therapeutic approach (Ghemrawi et al, Metabolism, 2019). The Post Doc recruited by FHU
ARRIMAGE (https://arrimage.univ-lorraine.fr ) will perform a preclinical study to evaluate in
vivo the effects of selected compounds with anti-oxidant or sirtuin agonist activities and their
potential synergic effects, using our transgenic mouse models.
