Offer Description

The CRISMAT (https://crismat.cnrs.fr/cristallographie-et-physique-de-la-matiere/ ) is a partner in the ANR SUPERNICKEL (Projet-ANR-21-CE30-0041), which addresses the synthesis and properties of superconducting nickelates. In these systems, superconductivity appears in the thin film form after a delicate post synthesis topotactic reduction of the parent perovskite. One of the focus main focus of this project concerns the link between crystal-chemistry properties of the films and their physical properties, to extract the major ingredients that conduct the superconductivity. The candidate will work on the nickelates thin films properties, grown in the lab and/or with external collaborations, and possibly participate on their synthesis.

The CRISMAT possesses a large number of facilities for thin films and bulk synthesis, studying their structures (TEM, X-ray diffractometer). For the measurements, a regular access to different technical platform is given (SQUID magnetometers, resistivity measurement set-up in PPMS (2-400K, 0-14T), … Partners of the project are theoreticians from Loma Bordeaux, experimentalists from Neel institute Grenoble, ISMO Orsay, GEMAC Versailles with whom collaboration will be facilitated

The CRISMAT is a multidisclipnary material science laboratory working on functional materials (oxides and beyond under thin film and bulk form, studied properties are multiferroelectricity, superconductivity, thermoelectricity...with a focus on structure/properties relationships)). The candidate will work in the "cristallographie et physique de la matière condensée" team in close collaboration with the thin film team.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate should have the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment (e.g. thin films synthesis, cristallo-chemical caracterisation, physicists) and to collaborate with PhD students. Ideally, the candidate possesses a Ph. D. degree in condensed matter experimental physics with a good background in physical properties measurements (electronic transport, Hall effect, magnetization…) and analysis. Skills and independence in driving some of the following measurements in the laboratory are mandatory: electronic/galvanomagnetic/thermal transport, magnetic susceptibility. Some expertise in measurement under pressure (PPMS options) and/or thin films physics will be highly appreciated. Good knowledge of English (both verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to disseminate scientific results are mandatory requirements for the position. The motivation and a good human contact will be particularly taken into account.
