School of the ministry in charge of industry, IMT Mines Albi is a school of the Institute Mines-Telecom
(IMT), 1st group of engineering and management schools in France. At the forefront of industrial and
academic issues on the international scene, it acts as a territorial scientific and economic engine by
combining its 4 missions - train engineers by integrating the dynamics of sustainable development, doing
scientific research, contributing to economic development and spreading the culture of science,
technology and innovation - in a virtuous and innovative cycle.

Its positioning in terms of training and research places IMT Mines Albi as a reference school on three of
the four themes of the IMT, namely the industry of the responsible future, energy, circular economy and
society as well as engineering, health and well-being. IMT Mines Albi has acquired in 2023 and for a
five-year period, a strategic plan divided into 7 main actions, responding to the strategic orientations of
the IMT group to which it belongs.
IMT Mines Albi represents: 985 student-engineers and researchers in training, 362 staff, a consolidated
budget of €32 million, 3 training and research centers: Clément Ader Albi Institute (ICA-A), RAPSODEE
and Industrial Engineering Center.

The Centre Institut Clément Ader Albi (ICA-A) is a training and research centre of IMT Mines Albi. It
brings together 50 people including 18 teacher-researchers.
In terms of training, he is an actor within IMT Mines Albi of general engineering training (student or
apprentice status) and carries the option «Advanced materials and processes for tomorrow’s transport».
In terms of research, it is an integral part of the Clément Ader Institute (ICA – UMR CNRS 5312), a
laboratory gathering 250 people with scientific topics focused on engineering in the mechanics of
materials in the field of aeronautics. Its five supervisory institutions are INSA Toulouse, ISAESUPAERO,
Paul Sabatier University, IMT Mines Albi and CNRS.

ICA deals with studies on structures, systems and mechanical processes. The business sectors are in
the mechanical industries with a particular focus on aerospace, space, transportation and energy.
The Institut Clément Ader Albi ICA-A contributes to the four ICA research groups:
• Composite Materials and Structures
• Surfaces, Machining, Materials, Tooling
• Measurement, Identification, Control, Monitoring
• Numerical Twin Modeling
The field of action of ICA-A is to optimize the tooling or the forming processes of materials (metals,
composites, polymers, glasses, etc.) as well as to study the relationships between microstructure,
process and behavior, in particular for the aeronautics and space sectors. Its activities are highly
experimental but also numerical. ICA-A has its own research platform on the IMT Mines Albi campus,
the MIMAUSA platform. ICA-A is a Restrictive Regime Zone (ZRR) since 2021.
Job Description :
Under the hierarchical authority of the director of IMT Mines Albi, and mandated for 5 years, you are
responsible for the direction, management and management of all research, training and economic
development activities, dissemination of the scientific culture of the Institut Clément Ader Albi (ICA-A)
centre and must:
- Participate in the school’s pedagogical project, training missions, research and technology
transfer activities, set-up and follow-up of contractual activities and national and international
collaborations,
- Ensure the successful completion of training, being assisted by the Deputy Director of
Training of ICA-A, and co-organize with the Training Department (DF) of the school the day before
regarding the evolutions of the needs in engineering and decline the offers of training in the sectoral
fields of ICA-A,
- Contribute to the construction of the scientific and technical strategy of the UMR ICA,
formalize a scientific roadmap outlining the scientific strategy of the UMR ICA within ICA-A and
implement it, while being part of the strategic orientations of IMT and IMT Mines Albi, in the context of
an international positioning of excellence, in connection with the challenges of digital, industrial and
environmental transitions and France 2030,
- Report on the implementation of the strategic plan of IMT Mines Albi in particular through the
various local authorities (College of Directors, College Business Relations, Advisory Committee of
Education, School Council, etc.), of which you are a member,
Lead and contribute to the preparation of activity and evaluation reports (including HCERES, CTI,
Strategic Orientation Committee, Research Committee, Education Committee, etc.) by following the
relevant indicators (human resources, turnover, theses, publications, etc.). By 2025, in consultation
with the ICA-A teams and in support of the ICA management, you will have to take stock of the past
period, contribute to the new five-year HCERES project, and contribute to the preparation of the CTI
audit,
- Ensure the global management of ICA-A and lead local steering bodies,
- Guarantee the smooth running of the ICA-A centre within IMT Mines Albi and UMR ICA,
- Ensure the operational management of ICA-A’s human resources and, if necessary, propose the
definition of the profiles of positions to be recruited,
- Be the guarantor of ICA-A’s budgets and other performance indicators,
- Be responsible for the ZRR ICA-A, in conjunction with the School Security Officer and the
HFDS Bureau, for the protection of scientific and technical heritage;
- Define and animate the operating bodies of ICA-A, with information, consultation and
operational effectiveness as main objectives,
- Promote the setting up of new research and technology transfer projects by ICA-A teams and
in coordination with the services of IMT Mines Albi, including its Research, Doctorate and Economic
Intelligence Directorate (DRDIE).

Skills
Expected profile :
Holder of a PhD degree and Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR), in at least one area of
scientific expertise of ICA with, if possible, recognized expertise in one of the main areas of application
of ICA-A. You must provide non-exclusive proof of:
• Strong experience:
o both in research and in technology transfer in areas of specialisation related to the main scientific
disciplines involved;
o in terms of setting up, steering and participating in direct contractual projects (CIFRE, Joint
Laboratories, Chairs, etc.) and subsidized collaborative projects (ANR, Europe, ADEME, Region, etc.);
o international collaborations;
o setting up and piloting engineering training curricula, ideally in line with ICA-A’s areas of expertise;
• Scientific production consistent with business standards and significant experience in supervision
and doctoral training;
• Demonstrated management expertise:
o sense of responsibility and decision-making ability
o management and communication skills to lead and supervise teams
o ability to adapt and control deadlines
o organized, meticulous and rigorous
o with intellectual and scientific curiosity
• Demonstrated expertise:
o managing and/or leading permanent academic teams and projects
o management of industrial relations (negotiations, contracts, etc.)
o budget management in a public institution
