Offer Description
The post-doc will lead a project aimed at characterizing the interactions between effector proteins of the Shigella bacteria and the proteins of the host cell associated with the phagocytosis vacuole.
The recruited person will work on in vitro models of epithelial cell cultures infected by bacteria, bacterial extracts or purified compounds. The complexes stabilized by chemical bridging will be analyzed by mass spectrometry.
The post-doc will analyze the effects linked to these interactions on the intracellular replication of bacteria by fluorescence microscopy.
The post doc will have the following activities:
• Study pathogenic bacteria-host cell interactions in cell culture models.
• Conduct, by adapting the experimental conditions, a set of techniques (electrophoresis, immunological, histological techniques, cloning, purification of recombinant proteins, cell culture, manipulation of class 2 pathogenic bacteria (Shigella), fluorescence microscopy)
• Exploit and present analysis results
• Writing experience or study reports
• Generate and organize technical resources as part of the project
• Supervise internally and externally the principles and implementation of techniques associated with the project
• Ensure monitoring and transmission of results.
• Ensure scientific and technological monitoring in the field associated with the project
• Participate in the dissemination and promotion of results in the form of oral presentations and publications
The main research theme of the I2BC laboratory concerns the characterization of the integrated functioning of the cell and in particular the understanding of the processes which, at the molecular level, govern the organization and overall physiology of the cell.
Researchers carry out their work on different organisms (from viruses to human cells) or on complexes reconstituted in vitro, at different scales and under various physiological conditions.
The Department of Cellular Biology within the I2BC includes eight teams which study the molecular actors and mechanisms which govern biogenesis, the organization and maintenance of specialized structures and compartments of the cell, intracellular trafficking and exchanges between compartments, the actin cytoskeleton in physiological and pathological conditions.
The CaSMI (Calcium signaling and Microbial Infections) team associated with the Department of Cellular Biology studies the interactions between pathogenic bacteria and host cell leading to the crossing of the intestinal barrier in the case of the enteroinvasive bacteria Shigella and the blood-brain barrier by the pneumococcus .
