Offer Description

The CRISMAT laboratory is a joint CNRS, ENSICAEN and Université Normandie unit located in Caen with around 100 members. The PhD student will work in CRISMAT's "Materials and Energy" group in charge of the development of materials for the electrochemical storage of en-ergy. (S)he will work under the supervision of Valérie Pralong. The project will be carried out mainly at CRISMAT where the PhD student will have access to all the infrastructure as well as to the laboratory equipment for the synthesis, chemical, structural and electrochemical characterizations.

This offer of a thesis is subject to funding being obtained and to applications being examined by the Human Resources Department.

Development of Eco materials for the energy storage and more specifically Li and Na-ions batteries, and the understanding of the role of molecular oxygen in the an-ionic redox . The project consists of synthesizing and identifying new materials, original structures based on iron and manganese oxide that could be used as electrode materials.

Additional comments

The candidate must hold a Master 2 in Materials Science, specialization in the field of ceramics, materials for energy storage will be a plus. (S)he is expected to have a sound knowledge in solid-state chemistry, soft chemistry synthesis and electrochemistry. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, good organi-zational skills and fluency in English is required.
