The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences , the Department of Music, Art and Culture studies is currently seeking to recruit a candidate to the position of

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER inmusic research for a fixed-term period from 1.8.2022 until 31.7.2025 (or as agreed).

Qualifications we are looking for

The postdoctoral researcher will work as a member of the Centre for Excellence in Music, Mind, Body & Brain (MMBB) and for an EU-funded research project MUSICONNECT: Music as youth empowerment – creating connection to self and others. The successful candidate will conduct research that is grounded in music psychological approach, investigating music as a resource for emotionality, emotion regulation and development of emotional skills. The studies of the projects will use experimental and longitudinal designs, psychometrics, mobile experience sampling, HRV-measures, and computational methods.  

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a postdoctoral researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines . The qualification requirements should be met by the closing of the application time. The postdoctoral researcher is required to have a doctoral degree suitable for the research area and ability for independent scholarly work. It is considered as an advantage for the candidate to have experience of a relevant research field (e.g. music psychology, musicology, music education, music therapy, psychology, computer science), statistical methods, and working in multidisciplinary environments. In this position, the language of instruction is English.

A successful candidate is expected to conduct high-quality multidisciplinary research and to publish in high-ranking international journals. The post-doctoral researcher is also expected to support the development of research and other activities of the department​​, participate in acquiring external funding, and participate in societal interaction together with the research community.

Salary

The annual salary range will be approximately 39 750-48 000 EUR for the Postdoctoral Researcher (gross income, including holiday bonus) depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A trial period of six months will be used at the beginning of the employment.
