Job Description:
The Graphic Design program, Department of the Arts, at the American University in Cairo is seeking applicants to join the program for one year, at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor of Practice, to start in Fall of 2024. The candidate is expected to teach six courses throughout the year. Teaching responsibilities will include technical and professional practice courses in Graphic Design with a focus on Digital Media Design and production, in theory and practice on a foundational and advanced level:
? DSGN 200/2200 - Design Foundations (3 cr.)
? DSGN 250/2250 - Digital Practices I (3 cr.)
? DSGN 350/3250 - Digital Practices II (3 cr.)
The candidate will be expected to actively participate in student advising, and department, school and university service. Demonstration of potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education is expected. The candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly research and contribute to course, curriculum, and program development. More information about the Graphic Design Curriculum can be found here.

Requirements:
A minimum of MA in graphic design or a relevant terminal degree. A minimum of ten years with evidence of extensive and successful professional practice, including experience in multi-disciplinary media and production environments. A proven strong relevant university-level academic and teaching record of minimum five years, preferably in a liberal arts educational system. Experience in the region is a plus.
Additional Information:
The Graphic Design program at AUC is a four-year program consisting of various theoretical, practical and technical studio courses that will enable students to integrate a good command of visual language with conceptual work, theory, and technology. Our theory courses are unique for their focus on regional and local design history and practices. The program introduces students to various practical studio courses that produce 2D, 3D, and time-based and interactive design projects. The program offers a BA in Graphic Design. The program offers four Minors in addition to the Major degree; Minor in Type Design, Minor in Interactive Media Design, Minor in Design for Interior Spaces in collaboration with ARCH, and Minor in Game Design in collaboration with CSCE.
