Job Description:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo (AUC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified faculty member for a part-time position in the Mechanical Engineering Program starting Fall 2024, in the field of thermo-fluids and energy systems.

The successful candidate is required to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the areas of thermo-fluids and energy systems. Courses may include (but are not limited to) Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Heat Transfer. He/she is also required to develop and deliver engaging lectures that promote critical thinking and a deep understanding of the subject matter. The successful candidate is expected to utilize innovative teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles, advise and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students, stay current with advancements in the field, and potentially contribute to research initiatives (depending on the specific role and departmental needs).

Requirements:

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialization in thermo-fluids and/or energy systems. Candidates should have a demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in thermo-fluids and energy systems, strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, a commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentorship, and experience in innovative teaching methods (e.g., active learning, problem-based learning) is a plus.
