The Department of Electrical and Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites outstanding candidates to apply for a Tenure Track position in 2D materials starting Fall 2024.
Position Summary
Do you consider yourself a talented and motivated researcher who likes conducting cutting-edge research in optoelectronic devices based on transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) and other 2D materials beyond graphene? If so, we want you to join our team.
Our current focus is exploring intrinsic bulk photovoltaic phenomena in low-dimensional systems for fundamental physics and device integration. To succeed in this position, you should have a strong background in 2D materials, semiconductor physics, and spectroscopy, which will strengthen our research team. We encourage applications from candidates working in the broad and interdisciplinary area of electronic and photonic materials and devices on a topic with significant engineering applications.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-level research on low-dimensional materials by utilizing synthesis techniques such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD), exfoliation, and transfer processes for 2D materials
- Investigate the optoelectronic properties of the 2D systems and integrate in devices
- Supervise undergraduate and co-supervise Ph.D. students by mentoring them in their research projects and providing guidance and support for their scientific development.
- Collaborate with academic and industry partners.
- Disseminate results at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to fundraising for research by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, preparing and submitting compelling grant proposals, and managing awarded grants.
- Teach courses in Danish or English (fluency in at least one is required, with an expectation to master both).
Qualifications
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Expertise in synthesizing 2D-TMDs by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and metal-organic CVD (MOCVD).
- Experience in 2D material exfoliation and transfer.
- Experience in the characterization of 2D materials and devices.
- Knowledge of e-beam lithography is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for an international scientific audience.
- University teaching experience.
- Strong publication record in recognized journals.
You must contribute to the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
