Student Assistant to Support ESG Research

We are looking for a student assistant to support a researcher and their team of student assistants. The work is methodological, multidisciplinary and data driven related to the field of ESG (environmental, social and governance).

The tasks can include but are not limited to:

  • Take the lead in the further development, maintenance and optimization of our ESG scoring tool.
  • Utilize your Python expertise not only to enhance the tool's performance, reliability, and efficiency, but also to implement new functionalities. This encompasses simple algorithm development, data structure optimization, and the design and integration of new features.
  • Oversee and refine the tool's data acquisition capabilities, which currently includes web scraping, API usage, and SQL database management. Part of your role will involve enhancing these functions and integrating new database sources as needed. You will also be tasked with improving the tool's capabilities for sophisticated data manipulations and calculations to extract meaningful insights from the data.
  • Outside of tasks related to the ESG scoring tool the candidate helps out with all manners of quantitative tasks that arise, such as econometric analyses, building dashboards with Power BI or analyzing GIS data.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has great quantitative skills
  • Has advanced proficiency in Python, covering a broad range of areas including but not limited to package management, simple software architecture, database management (SQL), data manipulation and basic algorithm design, web scraping, API usage, and familiarity with Python’s standard libraries.
  • Can read, understand, and improve existing code. Since the tool is already developed, a major part of your work will involve adjusting and refining what's already there to increase its efficiency and adapt to evolving project requirements.
  • Is an independent thinker who is not afraid to propose and implement new ideas. You will have a great deal of freedom to steer the project's technical development and contribute innovative solutions.
  • Has advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Has the ability to work effectively both individually and in a team and communicate complex ideas clearly.

You have to currently be enrolled as a student at an institution of higher education to be considered for the position. Students studying Computer Science, Data Science, Business, Economics, Social Science, or a related degree program will have an upper hand.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment will take place in accordance with the HK organizational agreement and the Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and Publicly Employed Organizations (OAO-S Collective Agreement).

The salary amounts to between DKK 132.68 and DKK 139.19 depending on previous employment with office employment experience and level of education. Pension is paid if there has been 9 months of prior employment in the public sector and you are over 20 years old, or have previously been covered by a pension scheme as part of a previous employment. The pension contribution amounts to 11.19% of the pensionable salary components.

It is a requirement that you are an active student at a higher education institution to be employed.

MSC is looking for a student assistant for a permanent position until you finish your studies.

Working hours: on average 12 hours per week
