Responsibilities
We are looking for a qualified person to take on a 2-year full-time Research Assistant position in the field of in vivo Immunology. The project will use different mouse disease models and a variety of in vivo experimental techniques (e.g. cell transfers, antibody-mediated cell depletions, drug treatments) to investigate how we can exploit skin inflammatory reactions to improve immunotherapy for skin cancer. Through the use of selective genetically modified mice, we also aim to elucidate molecular mechanisms involved in such processes.
Key responsibilities: preparing mice and executing inflammation and skin cancer experiments; daily monitoring of experimental mice, assisting with cell preparations from various mouse organs and flow cytometry; drug, cell or antibody treatment of mice at various time points; involvement in microscopy experiments; overlooking and genotyping of key mouse strains. Applications lacking any of the above qualifications will not be considered.
We offer
You will receive training in all of the aforementioned models and techniques and you will work on a day-to-day basis with a post-doctoral scientist. The project is part of the ongoing research at the T cell signalling and development group led by Dr Vasileios Bekiaris .
You will join a very active, collaborative and international team located at the section of Experimental and Translational Immunology within the department of Health Technology.
