The section for International Education at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is seeking a Programme Coordinator for our student exchange programme with the University of California (UC). The position is 37 hours per week. The role as UC Programme Coordinator takes up 50% of the time. Other tasks lie in the inbound exchange team and relate to the admission of international exchange students in general and to initiatives supporting students from all our partner universities while studying at UCPH.

International Education is part of Education and Students in the central administration of the University of Copenhagen. We work closely with our six faculties to increase the number of UCPH students going on exchange and to attract international students to UCPH. In addition, we work with colleagues across UCPH on the inclusion and well-being of our in- and outbound students and to ensure functional services and clear communication to support them in connection with their study abroad experiences.

With 38,000 students and around 200 bachelor’s, master’s degree and continuing education programmes, the University of Copenhagen is the largest higher education institution in Denmark. The University has student exchange agreements all over the world. We collaborate extensively with high-ranking partners such as the University of Sydney, the University of Edinburgh, the National University of Singapore and the University of California and our partners in the 4EU+ European University Alliance.

Key responsibilities

As Programme Coordinator for the University of California your key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with the “UC Education Abroad Program” main office in California
  • Advising students about application procedures and requirements at UCPH and UC
  • Counselling in- and outbound students in regard to studying abroad and academic planning
  • Preparing, editing and reviewing information material; including on social media
  • Arranging a social gathering for UC students once per semester

As part of inbound exchange team your key responsibilities include:

  • Advising students about application procedures and requirements at UCPH
  • Processing inbound exchange applications
  • Contributing to the continuing development of functional services and good practices
  • Working on projects to support a positive international student experience at UCPH

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Holds a university degree
  • Speaks, reads and writes Danish and English fluently
  • Preferably has international experience
  • Has an interest in working with and supporting students in their desire to study abroad
  • Has an understanding of and enjoys working with administrative procedures
  • Is able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Has a good understanding of working in an intercultural environment and can adapt to needs and requirements defined by different cultural settings
  • Has the ability to assess student welfare issues and give appropriate referrals

More about us

International Education has 19 full-time staff who work together in smaller teams with in- and outbound student mobility, student well-being, communication and strategic partnerships.

We are located in two shared office spaces in the University’s main building at Frue Plads in Copenhagen. We focus on efficiency and professionalism in our day-to-day work as well as good professional and social relations amongst colleagues. We participate in conferences and courses to develop our professional skills.

If the tasks at hand allows for it, working from home up to two days a week is an option. Sometimes, due to the time difference to California, webinars may take place in the evening Danish time.

Terms of employment

It is a full-time position of 37 hours per week. Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experience and qualifications.

UCPH is in the process of designing a new shared administrative organisation at UCPH, which is expected to lead to changes within the next 12 - 18 months. The purpose of the administrative reform is, among other things, to strengthen cross-organisational cooperation, increase efficiency, and ensure good career paths for administrative staff members at UCPH.
