Department of Health Science and Technology carries out multidisciplinary research, teaching and dissemination within biomedical engineering, sports science and medicine. The department has more than 250 employees and is responsible for more than 1700 students. More than 70 PhD students are enrolled in the doctoral school affiliated to the department. The researchers are organized in a number of research groups and centres, and the department has at its disposal laboratory and clean room facilities for cell growth, molecular biology, brain analysis, 3D movement analysis, respiratory and circulatory examinations, sensory and motor functions analysis, etc. All study programs at Aalborg University involve problem-based learning, organized around cases and projects. Research:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering or an equivalent field, with strong research qualifications in engineering within cardiovascular acoustics. This entails expertise in the development of acoustic sensors for cardiovascular assessments, advanced cardiovascular signal processing and the development of algorithms for quantification and interpretation of cardio acoustic signals. The department has a long-standing focus on the integration of engineering and medicine from an applied and strategic perspective. The successful candidate must be interested in further pursuing this objective.

Teaching: T
he successful candidate will have a teaching portfolio that demonstrates teaching qualifications and the ability to develop teaching activities in relevant programs at the department. These programs include, among others, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine, Medicine with Industrial Specialization, and Clinical Science and Technology. The candidate may also have teaching duties in other programs at the department and the university, including doctoral schools. They should demonstrate teaching experience at the graduate and postgraduate levels, such as Ph.D. supervision. The majority of teaching will be conducted in Danish, but English-taught programs are also available.

Innovation: The successful candidate will have a strong innovation profile, including solid experience in patenting, technology transfer, and start-ups within cardiovascular acoustics. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to attract external funding for research and innovation. Additionally, it is expected that the candidate will be interested in the utilization and implementation of research results in collaboration with healthcare professionals, industry, and the surrounding society.

Qualification requirements:
The suitable applicant can demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s undertaking of research management and/or other possible management functions will also be taken into account. In addition the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special contributions to and development of educational and teaching related areas will be considered in the overall assessment.

Wages and employment

Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations(AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given.
