Job Description

Are you looking for an opportunity to expand your knowledge and establish yourself as a researcher within cutting-edge polymer science? Then the Danish Polymer Centre is looking for you! 
We are seeking two postdoctoral researchers to be part of a Novo Nordisk Foundation-funded project, “Soft wearables with high energy density: merging chemical biology and silicone chemistry with compliant active devices (WeArAble). The project will be conducted in close collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne. 
Responsibilities and qualifications
The focus of the two postdoc positions will be the synthesis, characterization, and development of novel polymers and elastomers. The postdocs will work in close collaboration with nearby colleagues as well as with academic partners abroad or in Denmark. The positions will involve research dissemination of results in scientific literature and at seminars and conferences. You will be involved in the supervision of bachelor and master students and the co-supervision of Ph.D. students.
Postdoc 1  will work on the synthesis of novel siloxane ring polymers. Tasks include synthesizing and preparing silicone polymers and advanced chemical characterization. You must be an experienced organic/polymer chemist and have extensive experience with characterization methods such as NMR, IR, DSC, TGA, SEC, etc. 
Postdoc 2  will work on the development and characterization of soft wearables. We are looking for someone with a broad knowledge and multidisciplinary background and, ideally, previous experience with electroactive polymers and their characterization. You must also have knowledge and experience working with polymers and/or elastomers. Previous postdoc experience will be a plus. The position furthermore involves short development projects with companies.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is for 2 years. Starting date is 1 January 2025 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
