Job Description

We seek an enthusiastic and engaged postdoc willing to be part of a world-leading research environment and contribute to developing optimization and advanced control of Renewable Power Plants (RPPs). You will get the opportunity to participate and influence the development of advanced renewable power plants in collaboration with the top universities wind energy research in Europe and beyond. 

The Division for Wind energy systems at the Department of Wind and Energy Systems provides cutting-edge research in sustainable, reliable and cost-efficient energy systems to the benefit of society. Responsibilities and qualifications
You will be part of a dynamic work environment with a pleasant team atmosphere, where you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your academic, industrial, and personal skills. Besides cutting-edge research, postdocs are given the opportunity to coordinate work-packages in national and international research projects, collaborate with industry, write research proposals, teach courses, and co-supervise PhD and MSc students, which allows them to develop necessary skills for the next stages of their career.

As a postdoc, you are expected to carry out high-quality research on the intersection of data science, optimization and control, all with applications to wind energy science. You will be a part of an international team developing open-source tools capable of supporting the development of multi-disciplinary and multi-objective optimized renewable power plants control functions for grid compliance and services. 

We are looking for a self-motivated and team-oriented person who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working with complex, multi-disciplinary topics. As postdoc you are also expected to build strong collaborative links with external partners in order to strengthen the impact of our research. 

In summary, the principal duties and responsibilities of the Postdoc are:

  • Actively engage in education – lecturing and/or supervision
  • Perform research in electrical design and control of RPPs.
  • Consolidate the research impact in collaboration with the RPPs team as well as other research departments, industry and grid operators.
  • Participate and contribute to the international IEA Wind Tasks cooperation between other universities, industry partners and grid operators. 
  • Disseminate your research in conferences and high impact journals.
  • Engage in supervision Master and PhD students.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. 

Candidates with the following expertise and qualifications will be preferred:

  • Educational background in power system and / or electrical engineering.
  • Optimization and control ideally with application to renewable energy science
  • Deep technical knowledge in wind power plants support in distributed power systems
  • Expertise in TSO/DSO coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct outstanding research with measurable impact.
  • Experience with other technical tools such as Python, Matlab and Matlab Simulink
  • Experience with publication of research results in conferences and journal articles.
  • Commitment and experience with education – lecturing and / or supervision.
  • Proficiency in the English language

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 2 years. The desired starting date is the 15th of May 2024, but it can be changed upon mutual agreement. This is a full-time position.
