Job Description

BIG strives to develop knowledge and scalable technologies that can be used to capture and recycle carbon dioxide. BIG is a collaboration between North Carolina State University and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Here, we seek a motivated and qualified Postdoc to join BIGs satellite at DTU. The successful candidate will become part of our international, interdisciplinary research team with daily workplace at DTU-Bioengineering, but frequent contacts with our external collaborators. This is partly other BIG scientists, but also people from related projects at DTU-bioengineering, such as close cooperation with scientists from the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center ( CORC), you may read more about our activities at https://corc.au.dk/ .

Responsibilities and qualifications
We are seeking a Postdoc with background and interest in enzymology, biophysical chemistry and/or enzyme technology. During the 3-year project, the Postdoc will focus on enzyme assisted carbon capture, and the planned work includes development of assays for enzyme characterization with focus on biophysical methodologies. Specific research activities include enzyme immobilization, kinetic characterization and -modeling as well as performance testing under application relevant conditions.

We are looking for a candidate with excellent qualifications within some of the following areas and an interest to develop within others:                

  • Protein chemistry
  • Biophysical chemistry 
  • Enzyme assay development and instrument automation
  • Protein immobilization
  • In silico analysis of enzyme reactions
  • Enzyme kinetics and kinetic modelling
  • Enzyme structure-function relationships

Supervision of BSc and MSc student projects and co-supervision of PhD students will also be part of the position.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
