About the research project
The Laboratory of Renal Cell Remodelling lead by Assistant Professor Ina Maria Schiessl has recently published new insights on injury propagation along the nephron that may contribute to disease progression (PMID: 37479698). We now seek to explore if focal injury in the kidney may directly propagate into adjacent nephrons and thereby drive chronic kidney disease. In this project, we will dissect the mechanisms of kidney disease progression and potential intervention pathways using innovative injury models, serial intravital 2-photon microscopy of mouse kidneys, and state-of-the-art single cell and spatial RNA sequencing technology. Suitable candidate will acquire in vivo imaging and image analysis skills, collaborate on interdisciplinary projects with international collaborators, present their data at international conferences, and receive career development support. We are a young and international research group with the ambitious goal to stop kidney disease progression and we need you to be part of our team!
