Job Description

In connection with our Novo Nordisk Foundation Distinguished Innovator Grant ‘COMPACT – Cell culture and On-line Monitoring Platform Anchored on Centrifugal microfluidics Technology’ we are looking for a person for a part time academic position to assist in the microfabrication process of our centrifugal microfluidic device. The ultimate goal of the project is to evaluate the technology's market potential and prepare a business plan for commercialization. You will have an opportunity to be a part of the start-up team.
We offer a highly creative, collaborative, and ambitious work environment. This project will be part of the IDUN section, led by Prof. Anja Boisen at DTU Department of Health Technology. IDUN is a highly cross-disciplinary research section with over 40 members, that focuses on development of micro and nanotechnology based sensors, detection systems and drug delivery devices.
The position
Your responsibilities will include collaborating with our researchers to produce microfluidic devices for cell culture. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to contributing to the success of microfabrication projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a student who wishes to gain practical experience in microfabrication and cell culture techniques.
The tasks

  • Assisting in the microfabrication process of the centrifugal microfluidic device using CO2 laser, CNC micro milling, etc.
  • Assisting in the centrifugal microfluidic device design using AutoCAD software or similar software

  • Educational background in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, materials science, physics).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
  • Ability to follow protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • You can work independently while maintaining a structured and systematic approach.

Salary and appointment terms 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
The working hours are an average of 20 hours per week and can be arranged flexibly in relation to holidays, exams etc. The position is from 1 April 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The appointment runs for 6 months.
Place of work is the DTU Health Tech, DTU Lyngby Campus, Building 345.
