Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark
Job Description

We are currently seeking 1-2 skilled part-time programmers who can work independently and in a structured manner.
The job
The primary responsibilities will involve organizing data and code, data processing of 3D images, and programming related to image processing.
You will be part of a team of researchers working with 3D Image analysis in collaboration with users from many different fields. A central part of the team’s activities lies in creating new tools using machine learning enabling better and faster analysis. To support this work, we have initiated the QUAITOM project – The Infrastructure for QUantitative AI-based TOMography. The purpose of QUAITOM is to establish a data science infrastructure for AI-based quantitative analysis of X-ray and neutron tomography (μCT). We call this infrastructure the QIM Platform. By applying novel concepts and a user-friendly interface, the power of machine learning will for the first time be made available for the very large and scientifically diverse user community within μCT imaging.
As an assistant programmer on the team, you will be part of the practical work with creating the datasets as well as the work with curating the data and setting up the platform. Depending upon your skills you will also be involved in various parts of user collaborations.
Our expectations of you
We are looking for part-time programmers with experience handling volumetric data, programming in Python, and navigating on a High Performance Computing cluster. Perhaps you are a data science student, but not necessarily. It is expected that you are comfortable with working on your own and most importantly, you should be well-organized with an eye for detail.
The preferred skills are:

  • Experience with programming in Python
  • Experience with image processing and analysis
  • Experience with machine learning including deep learning

Primary activities the position will include are:

  • Organize and clean datasets
  • Structure code and software for analysis tools
  • Create tutorials for 3D image analysis
  • Process datasets using deep learning methods

We expect you to be good at communicating and a team-oriented person with good problem-solving skills, who is happy to share ideas with the group and to implement ideas from others. You are keen to take part in developing the foundation for the next generation of deep learning image analysis techniques and the scientific work it will facilitate.
What we offer in return
We offer an interesting and challenging job with a high degree of freedom regarding when and where the tasks are conducted. You will be a part of our small research group in an international environment and will have the opportunity to learn new tools and be part of the group’s research activities.
Salary and appointment terms
Salary and employment terms in accordance with the OAO-S Joint Agreement and the organization agreement for IT employees (Prosa) in the service of the state.
