Job Description

If you have an interest and knowledge in analyzing and systemizing measurements and create corresponding mathematical models in a group of highly competent researchers, a position as an engineering assistant at DTU Wind and Energy Systems will be the perfect place to be. 

The engineering assistant will join a cross-disciplinary, international team working on developing experimental and numerical methods for wind turbine aerodynamics and aeroacoustics with funding from national and international research projects. Also, the newest research will be applied together with leading manufacturers within the wind turbine industry.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The field of the position is focused on investigations of the basis of aerodynamic performance of wind turbines. This basis will support advanced modeling and experiments in wind tunnels and on full scale wind turbines. The work for the assistant has emphasis on e.g. analyzing and categorizing data from measurements on full-scale wind turbine and a corresponding modeling of the measurements.

The particular areas of responsibilities include: 

  • Post-process and analyze measured 3D cloud point data of wind turbine blade surfaces exhibiting roughness
  • Sort and annotate data with meta information
  • Implement a database 
  • Create easily transferable programming codes 

The candidate should have the following qualifications: 

  • Background in wind turbine aerodynamics 
  • Good skills in and experience in Python coding or equivalent 
  • Have experience in post-processing and analyzing 3D point cloud data of blade leading edge roughness 
  • Ability to work independently towards the research goals and deliverables
  • Fluency in communicating, reading and writing English
  • BSc Mechanical Engineering or similar

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or other relevant agreement.

The position is a part time position, 20 hours per week and is limited in time. Starting date is 1 March and the end date is 31 December 2024.

The workplace is DTU Risø Campus north of Roskilde, Denmark.
