Assistant professor in plant molecular biology

We are seeking applicants for a 2.5-year assistant professorship position in legume-rhizobia symbiosis research to join us at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics working on the transcriptional regulation of hormone-driven nodule organogenesis and infection in legumes.



Expected start date and duration of employment

This is a 2.5–year position from 01 July 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.


Your general tasks will consist of
  • Independent research of high international quality, including publication.
  • Teaching, guidance and examination of bachelor's and mater's degree students, as well as possibly co-supervision of PhD students.
  • Contribution to external research funding.
  • Development of national and international networks and collaboration of research and teaching.

Your specific tasks will consist of
  • You will be expected to establishing your own research group in the “Plant Molecular Biology” section
  • You will be working primarily with the model plant Lotus japonicus
  • The position will focus on aspects of hormone-dependent nodule organogenesis and infection
  • These activities will be in close collaboration with Stig U. Andersen and other PIs of the section


Your profile

Applicants should hold a PhD in Plant Molecular Biology or similar.

You should have experience in:

  • The generation and analysis of single-cell transcriptomics datasets
  • Plant molecular biology and hormone research
  • Teaching plant biology and NGS

Moreover, you should have:

  • A strong publication record
  • Advanced collaboration and/or management skills
  • Advanced English skills

Situated in a newly renovated laboratory complex within the central campus of Aarhus University, The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics comprises a vibrant research and education environment. The department currently has 75 full time scientific staff, 95 PhD students and a yearly uptake of around 120 students housed in the same building ensuring a lively setting.

The department has access to state-of-the-art core facilities, including FACS, Bioimaging, CryoEM and Biophysics cores.

Deadline

Applications must be received no later than April 17, 2024.


Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.
