ABOUT PREDICT

PREDICT is at the forefront of international research to unravel the cause and prognosis of inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD), which are chronic and disabling conditions affecting millions of people worldwide. The Center is comprised of clinicians, epidemiologists, laboratory, and data scientists working with collaborators nationally and internationally to push the boundaries of precision medicine research and create real-world impact in IBD. We have state-of-the-art facilities within the center and this means through PREDICT you will be part of a well-funded research environment equipped with the latest technologies, unique data, and a world leading network of collaborators.
We have a truly collaborative culture so you will be joining a team of like-minded individuals working together to build novel research tools for omics data generation and multi-omics analysis. We value enthusiasm and creativity and so foster a diverse and inclusive working environment where your ideas will not only be heard but will shape the future of our research endeavours.
Finally, we invest in professional development. From conferences and workshops to support securing funding, we prioritise your ongoing learning and development and aim to have you transitioned as an independent researcher by the end of the term.

Limited teaching within the area can be expected, but also in other study programmes at the University.

If you have further questions, you can contact Annemette B. Kristensen (email: [email protected], phone:+45 22984038).

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The candidate should embody academic excellence with experience in bioinformatics data analysis. They should also have a track-record of demonstrating high-impact results and a passion for working towards a vision for transformative research. Finally, they should aspire to become as a rising star in the field by producing and disseminating groundbreaking research that will make a difference in the lives of patients with complex inflammatory diseases.

The candidate has:

  • A PhD in computational biology, molecular biology, molecular epidemiology, or biostatistics
  • A master’s degree in a similar field
  • High-quality peer-reviewed publications that have scientific impact
  • Experience supervising junior colleagues in achieving their learning goals
  • Enthusiasm initiating projects and working diligently to reach their aims
  • Outstanding skills in inclusive and collaborative working with diverse colleagues

EXPECTED RESEARCH IMPACT

We expect the work we will undertake to have global reach and will contribute to research that transcends borders by leading the development of the first infrastructure for the analysis of viral screening data from phage immunoprecipitation sequencing(Virscan) of Danish National Biobank serum samples. This work will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of complex disease research in Denmark and globally.

We hope to create innovative solutions by adding the candidate’s unique perspective and demonstrated skills in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular epidemiology and/or precision medicine to the field of viromics in IBD.

The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
