Dean of Faculty of Materials Science and Technology, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava
announces a selection procedure for a post of
Researcher MEL (M)
for project REFRESH – Research Excellence For REgion Sustainability and High-tech Industries (CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000048), research program 6 - Advanced Materials Technologies for Engineering, Steel and Metallurgy.
The position is suitable for both women and men.
Required expertise: Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering or related field.
Activity description:
- assisting senior researchers in conducting experiments and investigations related to materials science and metalurgy,
- participation in the design, synthesis, processing and testing of novel alloys,
- study of degradation mechanisms of metallic materials with emphasis on hydrogen embrittlement,
- performance of microstructural analysis and mechanical testing of materials,
- collection and analysis of experimental data and contributing to the interpretation of results,
- participation in the preparation of research reports, presentations, etc.,
- independent solution of complex scientific research tasks in the given field,
- active publishing,
- performing independent research and collaborating with other members of the research team,
- performing data collection for specific project outputs and their completion,
- participation in the research activities of the given living laboratory, or collaboration in the research activities of other living laboratories, participation in the i
- mplementation of cooperation within the given research program.
Full time equivalent: 1,0
Type of job contract: Fixed-term employment contract with the possibility of extension
Expected start of employment: 01.07.2024 or according to the agreement
We require:
- Ph.D. in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering or related field,
- knowledge of the English language at the C1 level,
- practical experience and skills with the methods of structural-phase analysis (SEM (including SE, BSE, EDX, EBSD), TEM, XRD, etc.), the thermoanalytical techniques (DTA, DSC, TG, DTG), the thermodynamic and kinetic modeling (Thermocalc/Dictra software, CALPHAD),
- experience with laboratory experimentation and data analysis,
- proficiency in relevant software tools for data analysis and visualization,
- excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team,
- strong organizational skills and attention to detail,
- high publication potential - preparation and submission of articles to high-impact journals in the field of materials science or metallurgy or related field.
