Offer Description

Applications are invited from highly-motivated scientists for a postdoctoral position (fixed-term until 31.12.2024) at the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry, one of the leading research institutions in the field of physical chemistry, located in Prague, Czech Republic.

The project deals with synthesis of coordination polymers (CPs), metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and covalent organic frameworks (COFs), and their applications in optoelectronics and energy storage. The successful candidate is expected to synthesize crystalline CPs, MOFs or COFs, and carry out experimental studies on some of the following properties: photoluminescence, electroluminescence, fluorescence lifetime, coherent emission (single-photon emission, lasing), molecular magnetism, or electrochemical energy storage. Depending on your skills, you will carry out/benefit from calculations of the band structure and optical properties based on the density-functional theory.

Requirements:
Applicants are expected to hold a PhD degree or equivalent research experience in physics, chemistry, engineering or another relevant discipline. Applicants should have excellent academic qualifications and outstanding communication skills with an excellent proficiency in English.

Skills and experience in some of the following research topics and methods: synthesis and characterization of CPs, MOFs, COFs or related materials, optical spectroscopy (Raman, UV-Vis-IR, photoluminescence), time-resolved fluorescence, time-correlated single photon counting, lasing, light-emitting diodes, molecular magnetism, electrochemical analysis, ion batteries, and density-functional theory.
