UIC now invites candidates for the following position which is expected to be filled in February 2023: Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Cinema and Television.

Job Description

Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Sound Recording and Mixing, Film Production, Acting, and Theatre & Performance, etc. The candidate will be required to give tutorials to students, attend meetings, supervise final year projects and internship, and organize events.

Job Requirement

The candidate is required to have a PhD or at least a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (MFA) with teaching experience in a related discipline. Successful candidates are expected to be committed to excellence in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who have professional experience in entertainment or media, e.g. working in film and/or television and having professional credits and industry connections. The candidate should be cooperative, patient, and enthusiastic.

Proficiency in English is required. English is the medium of instruction in the Cinema and Television Programme. Academic rank will be determined in accordance with the successful candidate’s experience and research accomplishments.

Appointment Terms

Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and social insurance. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.

About the Programme

The Cinema and Television (CTV) Programme, founded in 2006, was developed in conjunction with and modelled after the curriculum of the Academy of Film of Hong Kong Baptist University, the largest and most important of its kind in the region. The CTV programme aims to nurture a new generation of graduates with a global vision, professional knowledge, and production and research skills needed for the robust development of the media and creative industries in the Greater China Region and overseas.

The School of Culture and Creativity at United International College (UIC) aims to offer a comprehensive, transformative and multidisciplinary approach to the studies of culture, media, design and creative industries.
