The Opportunity
Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Work-integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator is responsible for coordination and administration of work-integrated learning opportunities for the School of Business, including practicum and capstone courses. 
This individual promotes work-integrated learning opportunities to students, prospective employers, and industry partners. This is a forward-facing position with multiple points of contact with industry, Faculty, Academic Chairs, various SAIT teams, and students, strategically focused on continuous improvement communication excellence to foster strong relationships.  
The Role
    • Industry Connection:
    • Develop and maintain relationships with employers and industry partners to identify and foster student WIL experiences and employment opportunities. 
    • Educate industry as to applicable program and course outcomes and aligned student skillsets, as well as the requirements and expectations of the employer or industry partner participating in a WIL opportunity. 
    • Provide ongoing coaching to industry partners to prepare them for and support them through the role of practicum host or capstone partner.
    • Facilitate introductions and relationship building between industry partners and internal contacts across the School and SAIT as appropriate to advance WIL within program delivery and secure practicum placements or capstone partnerships.

    • Operational Excellence:
    • Develop, implement, and continuously improve processes to ensure work is done effectively and efficiently.
    • Actively gather and compile relevant data for analysis in support of optimization and continuous improvement of processes associated with WIL activities. 
    • Carry out administrative processes associated with practicum registration and delivery.
    • Maintain and update applicable documentation, processes, promotional and other materials to reflect new programs and changing curriculum, as they relate to WIL activities.
    • Develop and implement ongoing communication plan to support School of Business faculty, staff, and student awareness of WIL opportunities available both within and outside the School.

    • Academic Advising Collaboration:
    • Provide applicable documentation and training on WIL activities to Academic Advisors, including promotional materials to be distributed to students through newsletter, student clubs, etc. 
    • Provide WIL-specific student advising directly to students and indirectly through Academic Advisors. 
    • Collaborate closely with SAIT’s Career Advancement Services team to advance best practices and support SAIT’s WIL Strategy.
    • Through information sessions and individual appointments, assist students with career development and provide information on work integrated learning, capstone and practicum opportunities.
    • Connect students with on campus career resources in Career Advancement Services and Student Services, as required. 


Qualifications & Experience
    • Minimum
    • Diploma in business, education, or a related discipline is required
    • Five years of relevant experience in an advising, work integrated learning or business development planning and coordination role.
    • Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office suite.

    • Preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or a related discipline is ideal. 
    • Experience working in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
    • Strong knowledge of post-secondary programs with emphasis on work placement/practicum/co-op terms is ideal.
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
    • Knowledge in Banner database is an asset.

Salary Range: $59,675.20 - $73,174.40
