The Opportunity
SAIT’s Athletics and Recreation department is hiring Trojans Assistant Coaches, Equipment Managers, and Team Manager(s). Athletics on campus contributes to student engagement and the competitive aspirations that make up a larger SAIT experience. We are proud to support Trojans students as they represent SAIT in 15 distinct sport disciplines. We are Trojans!

•Men’s Hockey – Equipment Manager
•Men’s Soccer/Futsal – Team Manager
•Badminton – Assistant Coach
•Golf – Assistant Coach
•Curling – Assistant Coach  
The Role
    • Coach leads and supervises the team in all games, practices, trips, meetings and activities
    • Assist with practice plans in consultation with the assistant coaches and partner team coach
    • Establish rules for the team and oversee the strategic elements of play
    • Assist with pre-game preparation and communication with the team Plan player recruitment, evaluation and the player selection process
    • Assist with the operation of the team for home and away games, fundraising tournaments and outreach
    • Assist with the formulation of season and individual practices and game plans including exhibitions
    • Plan on and off court activities in consultation with the assistant coaches and support staff
    • Advocate all Safe Sport, Return to Play, Respect in Sport and other relevant professional expectations
    • Attend ACAC coaches meetings, Trojans coaches meetings and Alumni Association events as required
    • Communicate effectively, email/text responses to inquiries in a timely and respectful fashion
    • Inventory controls, purchasing of equipment, financial tracking and Visa reconciliations

    • Additional duties for Assistant Coaches & Trojans Team Manager(s) duties:
    • Trojans Team Manager shall establish protocols to exchange personal information to support sport media, sport advocacy and to coordinate player transfers and all roster onboarding measures
    • Coordinate mandatory student athlete training and relevant certifications
    • Coordinate internal and external team communications including storytelling and liaison expectations
    • Coordinate student athlete registries, databases and archives
    • Coordinate co-curricular alignments and other partner programs aligned to Athletics
    • Social media management, conference point of contact, student supervision, research and reporting
    • Statistical record keeping, milestones and celebrations
    • Contribute to tournaments, championships and other logistical demands highlighting the sport season
    • Trojans website updating and accuracy, sport advocacy, promotion and support as required
    • Reporting, writing, storytelling, bid documents, event summaries and speaker notes or scripts
    • Evening and weekend time demands include cell phone availability and an on-call mentality
    • Advocate all Safe Sport, Return to Play, Respect in Sport and other relevant professional expectations
    • Attend ACAC communication meetings, Trojans staff meetings and other Association events as required
    • Communicate effectively, email/text responses to inquiries in a timely and respectful fashion
    • Content creation and student supervision that advances a job ready graduate mentality
    • Travel & Head of Delegations duties required as Trojans advance through conference championships

Qualifications & Experience
    • Qualifications include relevant sport background in playing, coaching, evaluating.
    • Demonstrated commitment to athlete development with available to meet time requirements.
    • Ability to work with fellow coaching personnel and respective staff.
    • Ability to communicate on and off court requirements to players and administrators.
    • NCCP certified at the level indicated by National Sport Association equivalent, including current Respect in Sport Training, Police Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Check

    • Team Manager Qualifications
    • Qualifications include relevant sport media and logistics background in a sporting environment
    • Demonstrated commitment to student development with available to meet time requirements
    • Ability to work with fellow coaching personnel and respective staff.
    • Professional certifications, Respect in Sport Training, Police Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
