Position Details
The Campus Development Department at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for the position of Technical Specialist III, CAD/Database Technician.
Reporting to the Director, Campus Development this position plays a key technical role in the development and maintenance of the campus Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Facilities Management (FM) database systems. This position ensures the integrity of these bi-directional data management systems is realized by ensuring they are linked and functional. This position coordinates, administers and implements enhancements to the CAD/FM databases and acts a liaison between internal system users/stakeholders, IT support, and vendors. The candidate must have the ability to assess the quality of information both incoming, and generated by the CAD/FM system to develop iterative strategies improving data integrity and completeness.
This position maintains and distributes campus architectural and engineering data required for operations, maintenance, planning, and expansion of campus infrastructure, buildings, and grounds. Primarily working closely with internal stakeholders in Project Management Office, Utilities, Campus Safety, Building Maintenance, and units across campus on an ad-hoc basis. The Facilities department will be the primary focus of this position; generally support is provided to the Campus Development/PMO units in all phases of planning, building, infrastructure and renovation projects.
This is a full time AUPE Limited Term position ending on October 30, 2026 with possibility of extension, beginning as soon as possible.
Position Qualifications
The incumbent must be approachable and collaborative as they will be lending technical support to units across campus to transmit CAD/FM information and supporting space planning services for conceptual planning, events, building/fire code conformance, legislative requirements, academic/research operational & planning initiatives, and other activities that ultimately feed into the successful execution of the institutional mandate.
The candidate must have robust computer skills with expertise in CAD and Database applications and their integration/execution. They must also have considerable knowledge of drafting conventions, building systems, building/fire code, and planning/design processes. Their collaborative approach to problem solving & proactive communication style will be a key factor.
The successful candidate will have a diploma as an Architectural/Engineering Technology, GIS
Technology or equivalent. They will require strong computing skills and ability to operate and apply AutoCAD, REVIT, specialized Facilities Management Software, Intermediate Database & Spreadsheet applications and typical office applications.
Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $4,691.00 - $5,246.00 monthly
Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $4,691.00 - $5,799.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 10)
