Position Summary:

Under the direction of a Student Recruitment Manager, plans, coordinates, and participates in individual and/or team virtual and in-person visits representing McGill to Quebec CEGEPs, Canadian, and International High Schools.  Participates in McGill undergraduate recruitment events, targeting prospective students, applicants, admitted and confirmed students, parents and counselors, including on and off campus events, Welcome Centre, newly admitted student activities, Open House, virtual events, McGill Summer Academy, and more.  Presents information and promotional material about McGill, including undergraduate admissions criteria, academic programs, student life and services, and our campuses to groups of potential students, families, counsellors, government, and industry professionals. Participates with other members of the recruitment team in domestic and international recruitment activities representing McGill at counsellor conferences, national or international higher education committees, and university partnership events. Uses the current recruiting software and applicant data reports to plan, schedule, and track activities. Supports social media campaigns for prospective and admitted students. Develops and supports digital recruitment activities, including webinars, podcasts, and videos. Reviews, on a regular basis, educational publications. Processes admission files.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and organize activities to support the daily operations of the unit.
  • Implement administrative procedures or systems that are moderately complex in support of the faculty, department or unit’s operations and ensure activities meet or exceed established quality requirements.
  • Apply information received and select the most appropriate procedures for performing admission, government reporting, recruitment, scholarships and student record activities.
  • Communicate with prospective students, applicants, parents, guidance counsellors and other stakeholders regarding admissions, enrolment procedures and applications and other inquiries.
  • Administer activities related to academic student records and liaise with faculties and units.
  • Participate in student recruitment activities. May attend job fairs, high school and CEGEP visits, and Open House.
  • Create material and handouts to bring to site visits or post on website.
  • Establish and foster effective working relationships by identifying needs and providing support in the delivery of services. Assess and resolve administrative problems. When appropriate, inform supervisor and formulate recommendations.
  • Attend meetings.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Experience advising potential students on admissions criteria. Knowledge of the student life cycle an asset. McGill undergraduate experience an asset. Ability to support staff in their daily administrative operations. Proven organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and multi-task accurately with attention to detail. Experience working in a PC environment using databases, presentation software, web tools, and Microsoft Teams. Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and writing skills. Proven experience organizing events and fairs locally and at out-of-town venues. Experience with video and photo editing, professional social media campaigns, creation of dynamic slide presentations, an asset. Proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team. Valid Quebec Driver’s license and valid Canadian Passport. Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Fluently bilingual, English and French, spoken and written.
