Reports to: Communications Manager

 

Hour of work: 20-25 hours

 

Hourly Rate: $15.85

 

Duration: May – August 31, 2024

 

Job Summary:

 

Under the direction of the communications team, the Student Marketing Projects Assistant will perform work on Library projects and help accomplish the goals of the unit. The successful candidate will be asked to perform a range of duties including but not limited to: creating engaging text, image, and video content; designing posts to sustain readers’ curiosity; preparing and distributing promotional content via digital communications channels/social media; researching audience preferences and discovering current trends; suggesting new ways to engage different audiences; assisting with the promotion of special projects and events; assessment & metrics activities using tools like Google Analytics & Meta Insights; research on related projects; file organization and other tasks as assigned. 

 

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

 

Required:           

       

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Microsoft Teams & Zoom 

  • Video editing, marketing, graphic design experience 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (3) on a scale of 0-4 Other languages an asset

 

 Preferred knowledge of: 

  • Social media platforms, scheduling tools (e.g. Hootsuite), assessment tools (e.g. Google Analytics & Meta Insights) 

  • Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite 

  • Microsoft Sharepoint
