In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement , this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and an annual salary range of $71,557 - $119,269.

Working for VP Facilities & Operations

Building service workers, engineers, technologists, peace officers and tradespeople help keep all five of our campuses maintained and operating safely and efficiently. Asset Management & Operations supports our community through operating, maintaining and renewing our infrastructure and providing a number of safety and security services.

Position 

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Strategic Infrastructure Information Officer is responsible for planning, monitoring and managing specific initiatives and projects surrounding infrastructure information and data. Infrastructure information and data generally starts at the concept for infrastructure development and increases during the design and construction phases and is capitalized and maintained through the operational life cycle of the infrastructure. This role is key to ensuring systems are in place to capture information and data from the originating authoritative source, and kept accessible to parties who need to capitalize on this information for the optimized operation of the infrastructure. This information infrastructure aspect is essential for efficient asset management as well as how we can evolve towards a more data-driven organization.

Duties 

  • Demonstrates a broad understanding of infrastructure information using both internal and external contexts.
  • Anticipates issues and challenges facing the university and how the application of Infrastructure Information can mitigate the challenges.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of a Building Information Model and Digital Project Delivery strategy.
  • Performing proactive change management for numerous innovative digital transformation initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop Infrastructure Information guidelines and standards starting with Building Information Modelling (BIM) direction.
  • Set University guidelines, champion the data collection and use with Facilities & Operations.
  • Scope and oversee the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems, and quality controls.
  • Managing projects and providing specialized advice, strategies and recommendations to senior management/executives.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Building Technology, Architecture or other related construction discipline.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience providing leadership and integrating digital transformation strategies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Building Information Modelling (BIM), Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), Integrated Work Management Systems (IWMS) as well as modern electronic document management systems.
  • Experience using collaborative productivity platforms such as Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work effectively.
  • Strong organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to network and build strong professional relationships.
  • Knowledge of the building process and construction principles.
  • Experience with other building interdisciplinary areas.
  • CanBIM Certified Professional would be considered an asset.
